Search tips
The World Wide Web now contains an enormous amount of information about King Arthur, the knights of the Round Table, and Arthurian legend in general. Searching Google, Yahoo, or MSN won't always find the most relevant and interesting material partly because their indexes are clogged with spam and partly because the top listed sites aren't always the most deserving.
This Arthurian legend searchable index should give you excellent results because it contains only on-topic hand-picked pages from hand-picked Arthurian websites. Give it a try, but be aware that a search for King Arthur will most likely return a high proportion of all the pages in the index. To find what you want, you will probably need to refine your search and "use speechmarks". These search tips will help.
1. A search for Conquest of the Red Knight will retrieve every page that contains the word Conquest OR the word Red OR the word Knight, OR any combination of BOTH or ALL THREE of those words anywhere on the page. Remember, the words don't need to be together for the page to be found.
2. A search for "Conquest of the Red Knight" - inside quotation marks - will retrieve every page that contains that exact phrase: the words Conquest of the Red Knight together, with no other words in between.
3. To make sure that a specific word is always included in your search topic, place the plus (+) symbol before the key word in the search box. Alternatively, exclude a specific word by placing a minus (-) sign before the keyword in the search box. For example, to find pages for Adventures with Lancelot but without Sangreal, try Adventures +Lancelot -Sangreal.
4. Searches are case insensitive. Searching for Arthur will match the lowercase arthur and uppercase ARTHUR.
5. text:searchwords - finds pages that contain the specified searchwords in the body of the document. By way of comparison, searches without the "text:" attribute will scan the URL, title, links, and META tags as well as the document body.
6. title:searchwords - finds pages that contain the specified searchwords or phrase in the page title (which appears in the title bar of most browsers). The search title:Arthur would find pages with Arthur in the title.
7. url:searchwords - finds pages with a specific searchword or phrase in the URL. For example, use url:arthurian-legend to find all pages on all servers that have the text arthurian-legend in the host name, path, or filename - the complete URL, in other words.
